Happy dances

Thank you all so much for the wonderful comments! It is so great to be blogging again – even if it is on a borrowed computer!

Cathy – I think coffee actually came out of my nose – a pole in the back yard for the girls is a hilarious idea.

Jenna – We are in St. John!!!!! Oh, please come visit me! lol – Do I sound desperate?

Ann & Rebecca – Sorry to have left you like this. I would have liked to have a proper “see ya”, but we are coming back in the next couple of months to get our things and I will make a point of visiting. Plus I hope to get time off to go to CSNF.

Oh – did I say “TIME OFF”??? Yep. Six days into the job search and this morning I was offered a position. Say it with me y’all – WOOT!!!!! I start working at a local call centre on the 18th. And just try and convince me this isn’t fate – I will be supporting a mail order COFFEE COMPANY!!! All the coffee I can drink! lol!

As you can tell I am on a bit of a high – even my instant coffee (so far only one family we have visited here actually has a coffee maker on the counter – they all drink instant!!!) tastes good this morning.

We also have found the perfect apartment. A large three bedroom, cheap, in a building full of kids, with the school literally within view. We will be moving in October 1.

So I mentioned yesterday that I had three happy dances to share. I actually have one more to show you, but you will have to wait until the recipient receives it as it is my needleroll exchange. Let me tell you – if I hadn’t stitched her initials on it I would probably have kept this one for myself. Any way… on to the fun stuff:

First is Leslie’s RR piece. I wanted to get this one finished and off my plate, even though it doesn’t get mailed out for another month. I am quite pleased with this finish – every stitch has been railroaded (thanks all for that term!). While it took me much longer to finish this one, it turned out very nicely.

Next is something totally new to me. We are staying with Scott’s Nan & Grampy and Nan in her spare time makes Barbie clothes. Well the girls were bugging her to get some so I thought I would give it a try:

Barbie likes it so much her hair is standing on end! lol! The dress is a vogue pattern, which had to be stitched completely by hand, and the embelishments are of my own addition – I couldn’t just give Barbie a plain dress with out something fancy on it so I embroidered the border and the chest design.

And finally the piece-de-resistance (I am in a bilingual province now so I need to brush up on my french! lol! Sorry – no accents on this keyboard). The first thing I can cross of my 101 things list:

Gifts by the Sea is done!!! WOOT!! I have a frame for it downstairs and I will be delivering the final product on my next trip to Ontario. Hopefully. I am so stoked this is finished. My fairies are finally seeing some stitching time! I will be working on Lily Maiden and Woodland Fairie, alternating every couple of days. Lily Maiden is almost at the 50% mark and I need to get stitching on WF to catch up with Dawn.

That’s it for now – I think I will go and enjoy this high today and stitch!

  1. Oh Christine, I cannot possibly express to you how overjoyed I am that everything is just falling perfectly into alignment for you guys! I guess what it took was the courage to make that leap into the unfamiliar. I cannot believe that you’ll be working for a coffee company, no less. How ideal! I wish I could give you a huge hug right now, I’m so excited for you!!!

Please send me your address when you get settled into the apartment next month, okay? I will most definitely visit with you when I’m in St. John next. 😀

  9. It’s to hear from and know that you are settling in nicely in New Brunswick. Sorry I never got the chance to meet you in person while you were still in this area. But at least there is still Blogging!!

  10. Nice finishes!!!!! I love the Barbie dress – I used to beg my Mom to make those when I was little too!!

I wanted to comment on the girls and poles too – but thought it would be off color – then I remembered you are cool, so what the heck!! Are they in training now to be strippers?? (LOL) I am sure that would kill their Dad!

  11. What a blessing to find work so quickly with a company that so aligns with your coffee addiction. But what’s up with the instant coffee?! Surely they can do better than that – how about a French press pot?! MMmmmmm. . . think I need to put the water on. 😀

Congrats on finishing GbtS! It’s gorgeous and so detailed. 😀
