First let’s start with the SBQ from last week, as asked by Kathryn:
Right now I have … pause for counting … well this can’t be right. According to my files I have two WIPs and one UFO. Please hold….
Ok, I am a little shocked. I have only three WIPs and one UFO. Four projects on the go, total. When did that happen? I must start a new project! Now! lol!
On the go I have Mira’s Midsummer Night’s Fairy, TW’s Egyptian Sampler and TW’s Woodland Fairie. My UFO is Enchanting Lair’s Always, classified as such since it has been probably close to a year since I last worked on it. It is funny – I have always had so many projects on the go that I have just assumed I still do. Perhaps it is time to start a rotation again.
I guess one of the WIPs I could add in is the Seasonal Dragon’s RR. Here is Outi’s piece, the summer dragon I am stitching.
After a small … coffee incident… (which is all cleared up, I assure you), I am now grounded from drinking coffee and stitching at the same time with other people’s peices. FYI – baby soap and tepid water take out coffee from hand dyed fabric quite beautifully. So now I am zooming along trying to get this peice done so I can have my beloved coffee again. O, and to meet the July 1 deadline, of course. 😉
I have been busy crocheting and knitting as well at work, knitting squares for that scrappy quilt I started last year and crocheting basic slippers for the girls. Well it was in crocheting a pair that one of my coworkers started gushing over my work and asked how much I would charge for a pair of slippers. I thought she was joking. Apparently her mother loves those kinds of slippers and scours around craft shows buying them all up. I told her that if she supplied the yarn, I would make her as many pairs as it allowed.
Isn’t that yummy?? I had a hard time to actually make slippers out of this. This yarn was meant to be a cardigan or something. But I managed to look past it and whipped up two pairs of slippers the next day. Perhaps I need to start charging for that sort of thing so that I can buy this pretty yarn for myself?
I have also been plugging away at the endless dress of Minuit. Since it has been a while since you have seen her:
The dress is nearly finished then I will start on the ribbons and the wings. Perhaps by this time next year she may actually be finished. Heh.
While I have been writing out this blog this week’s SBQ has appeared in my mailbox. And so, as suggested by Ish:
How do you choose a project for an exchange? Do you pick solely on what you know of the taste of the recipient or are there other reasons you pick the piece you do?
I go by what I know of the recipient. Most stitchers have very clear tastes that show up in their own work (look at mine for example – nothing but fairies and dragons), but sometimes it is hard to find something that matches them. In that case I will opt for something that reminds me of them or is close to the type of stitching they do.
And lastly, one of my favourite LNS owners finally has her own blog. Check out Ann’s Knowledge and Needles blog and her amazing work!
