Catch up

First of all, let me apologize for not being around. Winter blahs have hit, and I must admit I have not felt like blogging at all. This does not confine itself to blogging – I have not stitched in nearly two months, and I haven’t picked up knitting or crochet needles in almost as long. Maybe I need some sun.

Some big news – we are moving! We found a fantastic flat uptown with a yard and balcony (bring out the barbecue!). We are very excited about this move and I will be posting photos later on this week of the new place. We will have a grown up kitchen again! Room for a table and still room to cook – sigh – heaven!

On to some SBQ’s I have missed:

 November 28:

This week’s SBQ was suggested by Heather, but you must visit my blog to get it. 🙂 (It is long and complicated.)

Essentially Heather is asking that based on our stash, what would others think of us when we are departed from this realm? What is your wish for your stash when you die?

I don’t think my stash would say a lot about me. It would clearly define my style (loads of dragons, faeries). There may be one or two things in the stash that would surprise someone who is looking at my style. One would probably assume I am dedicated to the craft, based on the fabrics and flosses I have.  They may laugh at a few pieces, and hopefully see the humour I see in some of the things I have. They may wonder at what I was saving this particular widget for.

When I go I hope it goes to someone who appreciates it. Or sold and the funds to a hospital. Or something. I don’t want it wasting away in a box.

December 5:

Today’s SBQ was suggested by Nancy and is:

What tips would you give to a new stitcher to help her stitch faster and neater while still keeping it enjoyable?

Hmmm. Relax? This is supposed to be fun? I really don’t have a lot of advice to give. One thing I would say is to choose a pattern that you really like – because if you don’t love it you won’t go back to it. Hrm. That’s it.

December 12:

Today’s SBQ was suggested by Nancy and is:

Do you do anything special to your threads before putting them through your fabric to make them more manageable?

Not really. I flatten it out with my fingers, but that’s it. I don’t really bother with thread heaven and the like. I tend to use shorter lengths instead if it is gettin unmanagable.

This week’s SBQ was suggested by Kathryn and is:

Have you ever helped anyone else learn to stitch? Have you ever helped anyone learn a new stitch or technique?

Yep, I have taught a few people. I have taught a few short-cuts here and there. The most fun are the seasoned stitchers who say, “I never thought of that!”. It just makes me happy I am not alone in those “d’uh” moments!

December 26:

This week’s SBQ is:

Did you receive any stitching-related gifts for the holidays?

This one is easy. Nope. I did get a new coffee maker though!!! 😀
